Testimonials
Pipestone County Senior Director - Donna Straw

Our local United Way of Pipestone County is very important to the Pipestone County Senior Citizen Center and the Pipestone Senior Dining Programs.  Although we are two separate entities, our organizations share a building a benefit from each other.

Our two organizations have many things in common; we try to serve as many people as possible in a variety of ways and are always looking for new programs to offer.  We always have more bills than money even though we have frequent fundraisers.  Both our organizations have been helped tremendously by United Way of Pipestone County.

The money has been used for needed equipment and office supplies that have enabled us to provide more services for the Senior Citizens.  When repairs for the Senior Dining dishwasher were needed, United Way of Pipestone County funds were used.  One of the things I like most about our Local United Way Board is the fact that they give 100% of donations received to local organizations.  I also like the diversity of local organizations that receive the funds; thirty one local organizations benefited directly from the United Way last year.  If you want your charitable contribution to count, you need to look no further than your local United Way.
Pipestone Civil War Days - Chuck Ness

The United Way of Pipestone County has provided financial support for the Pipestone Civil War Days since 2000.  The origin of this event dates to 1990 when the Pipestone County Museum and some local Civil War re-enactors organized an event in Pipestone, so people from the area could learn and appreciate their heritage and history.  It allows visitors to become a part of living history, and to understand what it was like to be a soldier or a civilian from Minnesota and other state during this great conflict of our nation's and state's history.  The monies received from the United Way has assisted the Pipestone Civil War Days in promotion and bringing educators to the event.  The United Way of Pipestone County has made it possible for Pipestone to have one of the most enduring and respected living history events of its type in the upper Midwest.  Without the support of the United Way of Pipestone County, events like the Civil War Days would not exist.
Volunteers in Mercy - Luann Bosma

Volunteers in Mercy and the VIM Thrift Store are so grateful to be a recipient of United Way of Pipestone County.  Funding from United Way has helped in reaching out to at least 2360 Pipestone County residents within the past year.  Agency referrals have increased and thanks to wonderful church and community support, many daily needs have been met and many people have been blessed.  We also have responded to many emergency needs such as household fires, abuse issues, and accident and helath related referrals.

What a blessing to live in a community where church, county, and state , non-profits, business and community volunteers united to meet the needs of our citizens.  Thank you United Way of Pipestone County for your continued support!!!
